Opportunity for the Disadvantaged
Success is our reward! That is the catch phrase on a brochure I picked up in the E.O.P.S. office. E.O.P.S. stands for Extended Opportunity Programs & Services. This program provides aid to non-traditional students who are educationally and economically disadvantaged. The program offers various services to students that are part of the program. Some of the services include counseling, tutoring, transfer services and also book vouchers. This is student aid at its finest. The thing I like about this program is that it recognizes the needs and struggles of first generation college students. If a student hasn't been raised in an environment that promotes higher education, the transition can be tough. I am glad that this type of program exists; however I wish that more households would emphasize the importance of education. Will we always need programs like this?
