This is a sprinkler, which is watering a huge lawn in the middle of the day on my university’s campus grounds. “Going green” is a catching point that many institutions, including colleges and universities, try to sell. I remember sitting through a mind-numbing skit during my orientation that lauded conservation and greenness as such a great, positive thing. Ironically, we were sitting on this same giant lawn watching these same sprinklers spray all this water that would soon evaporate under the blistering sun. How can they try to teach the idea of saving our planet’s resources while they throw it all on a lawn right in front of our eyes?
